Antigua in LA

Between the hipster haven of Echo Park and the K-pop of Korean Town is a hidden spot only frequented by Angelino Guatemalans.

At Guatemalteca Bakery is an assortment of baked goods - bread, desserts, tarts and cookies. Start the day with a breakfast "desayuno" (black beans, eggs and corn tortillas) for less than $5.

(I already ate it before I could snap a picture! It was that good. Guess you'll have to order your own to see it)

There's nothing fancy. No candles, no table clothes and expensive silver ware. Just good food, service and a fresh way to start your day. Don't forget to say gracias.

The Artisan Boutique Hotel

Nestled in the corner, behind the North Las Vegas strip, lies a small unique, or in other words boutique hotel complete with swimming pool, bar, restaurant and clean rooms. This hotel reminds you that you don't need a casino to have fun. For a competitive weekly rate of $60, the over-21 hotel not only includes the many amenities, but a vagabond decor to make your stay more of a memorable one. There's no doubt that the strip offers many elegant hotels to choose from, but it's the indie feel of the Artisan that gives a night stay an eclectic twist. An indoor plethora includes a water fountain, statues, and classical paintings to help spawn the creativity.
From 2 AM until dawn the bar flips into an after hours lineup of four DJs, dancers, mixed drinks, an occasional vampire or two, and the feeling that the night is never going to end. Don't miss the glowing insect shuttle cart for a free ride back. And if the buzz hasn't worn off, the restaurant opens to serve complimentary continental breakfast to help hang the hangover.
